What is Overgrown collection about?
The Overgrown collection started with a simply idea of trying to incorporate nature into our city life, how normal places would look like if it was overtaken and covered in plants. During the creation of my first drawing the “bathtub in the Enchanted Forest” I realised how therapeutic the image was for myself so I started drawing a series of these with different settings, which I would like to share and hope it would be therapeutic for others.
Where did it all overgrown begin?
It all began with a day trip at IKEA, my wife who bored and wanted to go window shopping as usual however I hate shopping so i would’ve opted to stay home however she knows me too well and managed to bribe me with 20 meat balls.
It was that moment when I started walking toward an indoor orangery/conservatory not sure if that’s correct term but it was a glass room for growing plants. I started getting ideas or a flash of inspiration.
I got home pulled out a fresh sketchbook my mind was pretty blank at that point however the idea of plants and conservatory was a strong reference, I started drawing a library on top of a cliff which was an inspiration from one of my favourite novel Waylander who lived in a palace upon a cliff.
After the drawing “Library on the Cliff” I wasn’t too satisfied and started drawing the corner of my landing which was one of the plants I bought from IKEA and a lantern and candle holder. It was that moment that I thought there was something satisfactory about plants filling a room “what if a nature had overtaken a room that we us on a daily basis” and that is where I got the idea for “The Bathtub in the Enchanted Forest”.
